A Purrfect Murder author discusses larp design

Karolina Soltys, author of A Purrfect Murder, appears in this video speaking at the Immersive Experience Network’s Live Immersive Design Symposium in October 2023.

Karolina is one of four game designers talking to an audience of immersive theatre creatives about larp and megagames.

Some terminology

Larps – “live-action roleplaying” games. There are many different sorts and styles of larps. Our murder mystery games are a subset of larps, sometimes known as chamber larps, parlour larps – or freeforms (particularly here in the UK).

Megagames – large-scale, interactive, live-action simulation games that combine elements of other games, such as role-playing games (RPGs), tabletop games, wargames, and larps. Players tend to have roles rather than characters.

A Purrfect Murder

A Purrfect Murder is a feline murder mystery game for 9–12 guests and one host. It is set at a modern-day cat fancy show. Who will win the Purrfect Paws Pageant? And who murdered Lady Catherine “Kitty” Percival? Written by Karolina Soltys.
