The Karma Club is set in the lodge of the Karma Club commune in Wells River, New Hampshire. The commune has been hosting a sending-off party for their guests, rock band Marmalade Skies.
Marmalade Skies had been invited to perform at a 3-day rock concert in Woodstock. Unfortunately, their tour bus has broken down. Unable to make it to the concert, they are spending the weekend at the Karma Club commune before embarking on a 5-month U.S. tour.
The tour bus is now fixed and in the morning, Marmalade Skies resume their tour. Tonight is the chance for one last party. Unfortunately, it has been marked by tragedy - Marvin Stank, Marmalade Skies' manager, has been found murdered!

How Freeform Games murder mystery games work
The Karma Club is unlike other murder mystery games. Although the game starts with a murder, each character has several goals they must try to accomplish. While they may want to solve the murder, The Karma Club contains plenty of other plots and secrets to keep everyone busy. The Karma Club isn't scripted, and lets the players decide how to achieve their goals and thwart their enemies.
On the evening of the game the guests are met by the organizer, Deputy Kozlowski, and welcomed to the Karma Club commune.
They then receive their detailed backgrounds – including dark secrets, objectives and money. The fun then begins as they form alliances, blackmail each other, steal items and maybe even try to murder one another! Along the way they may uncover some of the mysteries of The Karma Club. Was this fateful collision of Marmalade Skies and the Karma Club a coincidence, or karma? Will Marmalade Skies recover and secure new management before the tour kicks off tomorrow? Or will they crack and disband under the weight of this tragedy? Where are the master tapes from the Rough Ride Home sessions? Is the Karma Club really the haven of peaceful harmony it pretends to be? What are the true identities of local bank robbers "Bonnie & Clyde?"
Finally, the game concludes and everyone finds out how they did, and what secrets everyone else was concealing.
Recommended for ages 15+
We recommend The Karma Club for those aged 15+, as it contains references to references to rock-and-roll lifestyle, infidelity and a child born out of wedlock.

Q & A
Hi Bryan,
Sorry about the confusion - I'm not sure what happened there. You should use kc_18_guinevere-stone.pdf, not the other (small) one. (I will delete the other from the zip file.) Thanks for spotting!

Robyn –
A very very fun mystery, I highly recommend. It was the highlight of the whole hen do weekend! I encouraged people to be creative and they had so much fun coming up with their own schemes!
A note – I played with 11 players so Jackie Nichols was playing but Axel wasn’t, I ended up amending the booklets and effectively merging the two characters to avoid a bit of a plot hole (which was a bit more work!).
Melinda –
I’ve done 10 Freeform games and this one was fun but a much simpler story without as many logical options for the Murderer. Many of my guests have done several Freeform games so are quite experienced with the format. Might be better for people with less experience.
Great theme for dressing up and decorations. We had fun, but not one of the more complicated/challenging games.
Terry Whitley –
This is our 4th Freeform Game. We love them! This one did not disappoint.
Melissa Covert –
We had the best Karma Club party. It was an all girls party, and it was so fun! Everyone dressed like their characters, brought some candy cigarettes, and made food and drinks in the 60s.
Sandy Levin –
We had a blast with The Karma Club! Since it was close to Halloween, we dressed up a skeleton as Marvin Stank and lay him in a pool of blood. Everyone dressed to the 9s and played their party perfectly. Can’t wait to try another game.
Mark Wilson –
15 friends and I just did The Karma Club at the weekend, and had an absolute blast as usual (it’s our 5th freeform, and fourth of yours!)
Margaret –
Myself and friends had a blast playing The Karma Club. Everyone really enjoyed dressing up for the Hippie Theme. The game itself is nicely balanced and everyone has a number of very different goals which means that there are very strong interactions between all the players. An interesting element is that for some of the goals a larger group of players is required to cooperate to achieve the goal and since they all have other goals that are sometimes competing it makes for an interesting time. The final outcomes of the game were really funny and no-one managed to work out who the real murderer was.
Desi Staifer –
I wanted to host this one since The Karma Club came out. I was really excited about a 60s theme party. Everyone had a fun time, and it went great. The writing to this one is superb and, to everyone out there, Do this one!
